Royal Ascot 2010 - A Guide to the Royal Ascot Horse Racing Festival

Royal Ascot is a true spectacle in early June and is well known and considered one of the main A list events of both the racing and party scene in Great Britain with people from all walks of life including working class and the royal family turning out side by side to enjoy their passion for horse racingn and this truly great event.

Five exciting days of fabulous highly competitive racing are mixed and entwined with the whole party atmosphere that is part and parcel of what Royal Ascot 2010 is all about and it proves to be a truly exciting occasion for all the racegoers and members of the public who turn out for this yearly race meeting.

One of the most eagerly anticipated and fun days is Ladies Day where the girls put on their glad rags and turn out in their thousands to show off and flaunt their new|frocks and hats hoping to get photographed by the assembled photographers, who in turn are looking to snap a pop star or movie star or even a member of the royal family}.

But Royal Ascot is not just about dress code, it is in fact truly about the racing, the horses and the jockeys.....and of course the betting and gambling.

At this festival of horse racing the leading owners and thier horses take part and play a role in hugely competitive races where they battle for some of the highest prize funds in racing sport.

Every thoroughbred horse race at Royal Ascot is truly a wonderfully competitive event with strong high quality fields and lots of runners.

This makes it one of the most popular race meetings of the English horse racing season.

More and more people are visiting race courses in the UK and Ascot Racecourse is one of the leading tracks providing both jump racing and flat racing during the year.

Some of the most important races at the Royal Ascot 2010 meeting are the St James Palace Stakes where we would expect to see this seasons 2000 Guineas hero Makfi as well as the Ascot Gold Cup where it is likely that Henry Cecil's Manifest will be strongly fancied.

Also in the mix for the Gold Cup may be Kasbah Bliss and it will be intriuging if this high class staying hurdler takes his chance. One thing for sure, his trainer Francois Doumen will certainly not look out of place at the event.

Before i move on I found this video on You Tube of Yeats who was an absolute legend and won his 4th Gold Cup last year before being retired. I was sure Geordieland was going to spoil the party but Yeats proved just what a top class stayer he was and as the music in the video says "Stand Up for The Champion"

I am also looking forward to the World Sprint challenge on the Saturday of the meeeting where horses from all over the world will be competing over the 6 furlong trip. Fleeting Spirit is bound to be in the mix here and we are likley to see a strong challenge from the US and Australia as well.

One of the Royal Ascot betting highlights of the week is actually nothing to do with the racing but involves Her Majesty The Queen.

Bookmakers will be betting on which colour hat the queen will be wearing when she attends

For current information and help with betting I came across this really informative site about the race meeting at Royal Ascot and I loved it. There are some great videos and articles there as well.

Admission tickets to the meeting at Royal Ascot are on sale and if you are looking for a fabulous day at the races then this one you will surely enjoy.

Have a great time if you go and if not remember the site I mentioned above. That site also shows how you cab get a free bet on the racing at Royal Ascot.

Cheers
